1st semester organization

Practical informations

General principles of course planning
1st semester 2020/2021

Context

The principles given below take into account:

The health situation and possible evolutions: even if the trend is towards a reduction of constraints, the scenario foresees the change to a remote version only

Our objective to maintain a number of face-to-face sessions to encourage exchanges with students (especially for the Paris, Nuremberg and Berlin campuses)

Our objective to optimize the presence of students (courses for two consecutive sessions of 1:30) as well as teachers & contractors.

Pedagogical organization methods

Organization in half-semesters (September/October & November/December) for the two years of PGE 2A and PGE 3A (the block-release training format is not concerned).

If the health situation allows it, some of the sessions indicated as DS will be transformed into PR.

Each teaching sequence will be characterized by:

The mode of instruction: PR, DS or DA

(noted on the planning/timetable sheet of the group in question)

DS: Synchronous Distance Learning, noted DS (modalities of information exchange at distance AND live, via a videoconference application)
DA: Asynchronous Distance, noted DA (modalities of exchange of information at distance AND deferred)
PR: Presential, in this case the indication is followed by the room number.

A weight of 30% to 50% of DA:

  • For a 30-hour module: 6 to 10 sessions of 1 hour 30 max.
  • For a module of 20 hours: 4 to 7 sessions of 1 hour 30 max.

Exception: we would like to give priority to synchronous teaching for courses such as workshops, specializations in PGE/MSc, and professionalization areas for the Bachelor’s degree. In this case, the sessions will be indicated in DS; a DA part remains possible and is left to the discretion of the module manager.

The type of teaching time as you are used to:

  • The type of instructional time: lecture (CM), tutorial (TD), etc.
  • If the health situation allows it, some of the sessions you have indicated as DS will be transformed into PR (the information will be given to you by the scheduling department in close collaboration with the program directors).
